The story of Sweet Home Baptist Church is wonderful and filled with many God ordained moments. In January of 1905, a small group of 22 people launched Sweet Home Baptist Church; only, the second African-American Baptist Church in Round Rock.

Those early days were incredible as the vision of the church and the love of God was being shared. The church served in its first home for over 80 years, claiming two more permanent worship facilities before arriving on Sunrise Rd.

The church moved to 3200 Sunrise Rd. filled with excitement and momentum and continued to grow and do even greater things within the local community, and beyond.

Sweet Home’s outreach is extensive and includes: weekly meal service for students at a local elementary school; a monthly outreach service at a local residential Senior Living community; financial support to a women’s shelter and substance abuse treatment facility in South Africa; a partnership with a nearby apartment community and elementary school to provide after school tutoring, snacks and other resources requested throughout the year; an annual community-wide outreach Friends and Family Day fellowship; and, participation in an annual event, with the Backpack Coalition to provide meal kits to over 1400 students in Round Rock ISD.
In our fight against hunger in our community, we participate in this collaboration with other churches, organizations and businesses to provide 3 meals a day for one week, or more. This event yields over 2800 bags of food (22,480 lbs / 11.25 tons) to ensure that students, of all ages, have enough food to sustain them throughout Spring Break.
These are just a few ways that your faithful stewardship supports the mission and vision of Sweet Home Baptist Church (The Pinnacle of Praise).  More importantly, we are always looking for ways to expand our outreach to do more of God’s work, God’s way, for God’s glory!
